Ultra-low-power local compute provides the platform on which BioVerity firmware can coordinate device behaviour and sensing logic.

ONiO.zero is an ultra-low-power wireless microcontroller designed for power flexibility, including operation from harvested energy or conventional battery sources.
ONiO describes ONiO.zero as a power-agnostic wireless MCU that can operate from ambient-energy harvesting or batteries. ONiO's current published material states active MCU power of 22 µW/MHz and cold-start capability below 1 µW.
ONiO also states that CPU, radios, memory and power management are integrated on the device. Its published material describes support for harvested energy including RF, solar, thermal and piezoelectric sources. These characteristics are relevant to BioVerity because they reduce the power and component burden of a thin sensing architecture.
Ultra-low-power local compute provides the platform on which BioVerity firmware can coordinate device behaviour and sensing logic.
Integrated memory supports embedded firmware and local data-handling functions within the ONiO.zero platform.
Integrated wireless capability provides the radio layer used by the proposed BioVerity communications architecture.
Integrated power-management and energy-harvesting capability is designed for extremely constrained energy sources.
BeFC and ONiO have publicly announced a strategic partnership to co-develop sustainable connected devices combining ONiO.zero with BeFC paper-based biofuel cells. BeFC describes ONiO.zero as providing sensing, processing and wireless communication while BeFC provides the micro-energy source.
This published ONiO–BeFC relationship is separate from BioVerity's proposed integration. BioVerity's role is its own firmware, communications, observed-location and endpoint architecture built around the enabling technologies.
